Born in Texas and living much of his childhood in Mississippi, Green began taking photographs while working at his college newspaper, which led to his first job The Commercial Dispatch in Columbus, Mississippi. Finding local journalism was a revelation for him. He has since bounced around to local newspapers across the Southeast, simultaneously freelancing for clients like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Reuters. He and his wife, Kayla, currently run the editorial side of Gulf Coast Media, a collection of four local newspapers in coastal Alabama and serve as the U.S. mentors for The Raw Society.
Green has had exhibitions of his work in South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi, including at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art. He also had a photo chosen to be a part of the 39th edition of the American Photography Annual and was a part of the Atlanta Center of Photography’s group exhibition ‘The New South’ in 2025. He was the first photographer represented by The Caron Gallery, a fine art gallery, based in Laurel, Mississippi.
Although he spent his youth in the South, his family is from the western US, and he didn't grow up feeling "Southern". Self-taught through experimentation, Green's daily interactions and observations through his camera have given him a better understanding of and ties to the region he calls home.
